Descended from the legendary Kashmir van ’t Schuttershof, Backup inherits a pedigree rich in elite performance and proven sportiness.

Kashmir himself was a top international Grand Prix competitor up to 1.60 m, representing Belgium in Nations Cup teams with Philippe Le Jeune. As a sire, he has become one of the most influential stallions in modern breeding, producing countless 5★ performers. Among his most famous offspring are H&M All In (Olympic silver medallist and European Champion with Peder Fredricson), H&M Indiana (top-level mare with Malin Baryard-Johnsson), and Gazelle (winner of the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen with Kent Farrington). Kashmir’s line brings scope, carefulness, and exceptional mentality — traits that clearly live on in Backup and her progeny.

On the dam’s side, Backup traces back to Skippy II, a Selle Français stallion by Galoubet A who has sired numerous Grand Prix jumpers (including Maloubet, Nikita de l’Aubry, My Blood, and Teres. Skippy II’s line is further reinforced by Zeus, a Selle Français stallion born in 1972, noted for a pedigree with over 85 % blood — representing agility, athleticism, and refinement.

This mix gives Backup a unique genetic foundation: the modern scope and proven top-level performance from Kashmir, paired with the refined athleticism and jumping heritage of Skippy II × Zeus.

Backup was an exceptionally successful sport mare who earned her reputation in the arena as a true fighter. She stood out for her strong character and was a partner her rider could always rely on — never letting them down.

Her career reached the international 1.50m level, where she competed in World Cup qualifiers and achieved her qualification. She was also part of the team in the Nations Cup, further underlining her quality and reliability at the highest level.

Beyond her remarkable ability and excellent jumping technique, she combined great rideability, plenty of blood, and courage, making her an outstanding sport partner.

In 2020, she became a broodmare with the birth of her first foal, Dallas Star, who has already grown into one of the strongest mares in our program. Since then, Backup has produced five outstanding offspring. Each of them is unique, yet they all share her powerful jump, excellent temperament, and strong athletic conformation. She consistently passes on beautiful type, elastic gaits, and exceptional scope — along with her unmistakable fighting spirit. She transmits excellent jumping technique to her offspring
